  1. Potential clients should submit contact info and reference photo(s) via the contact form on the Book Commission page.

  2. I will contact potential clients within 72 hours and discuss your inquiry for a pastel painting and the reliability of the reference photo(s).

  3. Once the reference photos have been approved and the details of the commission is approved, I will give an estimated time frame for their commission to begin. For clarity, potential client moves up a waitlist/queue and will be notified when their turn has come up.

  4. When the time has come to start the commission, I will contact the client for payment (50% non-refundable deposit or total payment).

  5. When I have received payment, the client will receive multiple progress photos, via email, throughout the creation of the painting. This is necessary so the client's expectations are met and I can provide the best of my artistic gift. Please know that additions or changes requested in the painting but not in the reference photos, should be brought to my attention at the start of the commission or very early on. A fee will be required if the client's requests for changes, additions or adjustments are requested later in the creation process. However, I have the right to deny client's requests or end the contract at any time, and for any reason.

  6. Commissioned paintings normally take 2-3 weeks to complete but, they can take up to 6-8 weeks depending on factors such as: late requests or additions/changes to painting, size of paintings, number of subjects/details and amount of the subject(s) in the painting.

  7. Once finished and client approves, I will package and ship the painting within the next 2-3 business days. Please provide the correct address. There are no refunds for commissions.

  8. If a client receives a painting that has been damaged during shipping or delivery, the client should take photos of the packaging, artwork, receipts, delivery person, etc. These will help clients apply and possibly receive a refund. I have shipping insurance applied to my commissions.

Framing is not included in the price of your art commission.  PASTEL ART & FRAMING

What is pastel?

Pastel is pure pigment. It comes in a stick form, pencil and powder. It can be messy to use but its vibrancy and longevity is unmatched.  Pastel paintings keep its color and brilliancy for many, many generations. Pastel artwork has been cherished and valued by artists and related entities and, will continue to be.

Is framing pastel artwork required?

Yes. Framing your pastel painting is crucial because it smears when touched or comes into contact with something. Framing pastel artwork requires that the glass part of the frame never touch the artwork. It should always have a mat within the frame and a double mat or floating double mat should be applied. Because pastel can be smeared, there are products that claim to eliminate pastel smearing. However, there will always be some smearing. The other downside is, the artwork will turn dull, muted in color and have a gritty texture. I do not use these sprays and so many other artists don't either. The best approach to protecting pastel artwork is to frame it properly or, seek a professional framer. Find a framer with experience with pastel artwork and one who does not require your artwork be sprayed.

Do I frame my pastel commissions?

Yes, upon request, for an additional fee and under certain conditions. The client should request framing at the beginning of the commission. Requests for items or services for the artwork, at or near the end of a painting, require an additional fee. I have space to frame artwork no larger than 18x24 inches. Anything larger requires professional framing.  My prices for framing range from $160.00 - $270.00 which are competitive with professional framers. These prices also include the additional costs for packaging and shipping, heavier and larger, glass framed artwork. The difference is that you will have a ready to hang, framed artwork, upon delivery. Professional framing can take from 2 weeks to multiple months depending on their workload and other factors. Please know that prices for framing are subject to change at anytime and framing can be denied at any time and for any reason.
